2022 GMC Sierra HD
The 2022 GMC Sierra heavy-duty trucks offer outstanding comfort, performance, and capability to suit your business or leisure needs. Available in 2500 and 3500 variants, the Sierra HD features big-rig looks with its imposing front fascia, bulging hood, large trailering mirrors, and versatile cargo area.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
For 2022, the Sierra HD is offered in five trim levels, with the workhorse Pro, stylish SLE and SLT, the off-road-specialized AT4, and the luxurious Denali. Depending on the model, you can choose from three cab and two bed sizes. The Sierra 3500 also offers the option of a dual-rear-wheel axle.
Standard features include LED headlights and daytime running lights, side bed steps, cargo bed lighting, rear bumper steps, a trailer hitch, and LED taillights. All but the base model come with the six-function MultiPro tailgate with EZ Lift. With the rugged AT4, you get higher ground clearance, special off-road details, and unique black chrome trim.
Engine (Power)
Standard power for the Sierra HD is provided by a 6.6-liter V-8 gas engine that generates 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. For more power, you can opt for a mighty 6.6-liter V-8 turbo-diesel paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
Pro, SLE, and SLT models come standard with rear-wheel drive and offer the option of all-wheel drive, which is standard on the AT4 and Denali trims. When properly equipped, and depending on the configuration, the Sierra 2500 has a payload of up to 3,979 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 18,500 pounds. The Sierra 3500 increases those figures to a 7,442-pound payload and a massive towing capacity of up to 36,000 pounds.
Four-wheel-drive models feature a two-speed transfer case for control in any conditions. The AT4's off-road performance is enhanced by specially tuned suspension and shocks, skid plates, and hill descent control.
Interior
Inside, the Sierra HD's spacious, well-appointed cabin has elevated seating that gives you a commanding view. The standard 40/20/40-split front bench has a center fold-down armrest with storage. Additional multiple storage options enable you to pack all the gear you need. All except the base model have cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
The SLT trim and up offer remote start, perforated leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, driver's seat memory, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and two 120-volt power outlets. AT4 and Denali trims feature heated and ventilated front bucket seats, a front center console, and unique, model-specific interior details and trim.
Safety Features
Helping keep you in control are electronic stability control, traction control, and four-wheel antilock disc brakes. The SLE trim and above add an integrated trailer brake controller. Standard safety features include a rearview camera with hitch guidance, a rear seat reminder, teen driver functions, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Higher spec models offer the ProGrade Trailering System, a hitch view camera, and an in-vehicle trailering app to make hitching and towing a breeze. The Denali adds a suite of driver assistance technologies.
