2022 GMC Terrain
The GMC Terrain is a small SUV that offers a distinctive look, good fuel economy, a spacious interior, and light off-road capability. For the new model year, the Terrain loses its optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine but gains a rugged-looking AT4 trim.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Terrain receives a styling upgrade for the 2022 model year, which includes new LED lights and a revised grille and front bumper. You can choose from four trim levels: the SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. In addition, an Elevation Edition model is offered on the SLE and SLT trims. It comes with a blacked-out trim and 19-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels.
With the SLE trim, you receive heated mirrors, all-season Blackwall tires, 17-inch aluminum wheels, deep-tinted rear glass, and LED exterior lighting. Apart from side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, the SLT trim adds roof rails, 18-inch aluminum wheels, a hands-free liftgate, and fog lights. The new AT4 trim is equipped with an underbody skid plate, bigger off-road tires, and unique styling cues. The top-of-the-range Denali trim offers aesthetic upgrades, such as a unique grille and chrome exterior accents.
Engine (Power)
Since the available turbocharged engine falls away for the 2022 model year, all Terrain trims are now powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and generates an output of 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. On the SLE and SLT trims, front-wheel drive comes standard and all-wheel drive is available. The AT4 and Denali trims feature a standard all-wheel-drive system.
Performance
For the first time, you can now opt for a rugged Terrain AT4 trim. It offers enhanced off-road capability with features such as a Traction Select System and trail-ready tires. For a more refined driving experience, opt for the Denali trim. The vehicle is equipped with a premium suspension system with enhanced shock control that will provide you with a comfortable and quiet ride, even on rough roads.
Interior
The Terrain's cabin is upscale and spacious. Supportive and roomy seats are provided for up to five passengers. The rear cargo area offers 29.6 cubic feet of space, which you can extend to 63.3 cubic feet by folding the rear seats down. A feature-rich standard 7-inch infotainment system provides wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth, USB ports, six speakers, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
Other standard interior features include a premium cloth trim, single-zone automatic climate control, keyless open, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Various upgrades are offered with the higher trims, such as driver-seat memory, a head-up display, and heated front seats. Depending on the trim, you can also expect leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a wireless charging pad.
Safety Features
One of the top selling points of the Terrain is its comprehensive suite of standard driver-assist features. Apart from lane change alert with side blind-zone alert, you receive rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear vision camera. Other standard systems include a following distance indicator and automatic emergency braking.
